Hiring managers, HR professionals and recruiters all agree – Volunteering does absolutely count!
Just to present it in the right light. They really do not mind seeing a "gap" in employment, but they want to know what you have done, and what are the skills you used in your volunteer work that are relevant and transferable to the job you are applying.
Key is to submit your volunteer activities as relevant things you have done to keep your skills sharp while on the workforce, or to build / develop new skills.
1. If you're a mom returning to work, feel free to make their skills current and relevant at the top of your resume to make your change. According to hiring managers and screeners curriculum vitae, one of the largest Errors career changers and mothers returning to work is to make their volunteer activities in force at the end of the resume.
2. If you're on the job market now, but your volunteer work is not an ability that uses the skills you'll want to evident when you enter, you focus on your future and choose your volunteer work more strategically.
3. Job search that interests you and take stock of the skills they need, then build a strategy that aligns with the voluntary use these skills.
4. Keep a folder where you keep track of your numbers and results: how many people you managed, how many dollars you raised the number of hours worked, discrepancies you or your group has made, and the results you have achieved. Include all other facts, figures, references and information that could be useful.
5. Focus on the presentation of your volunteer activities in light business. For example, if you've been:
The President of the PTO – List your leadership skills and management, and related results.
In any fundraising capacity – Map Sales & Marketing. This is where your file is very convenient. Give them dollars raised, the organizations invited to participate, etc.
Operating a school project – Facts Highlights project management, the number of people managed, and special skills that you used to do the job.
On Writing and offer a newsletter – Highlight creative writing and marketing and all the graphics or desktop publishing you might have used.
6. Finally, think about your volunteer work and how you have made a difference: Have your contribution include:
- Make an organization of more money?
- Helping an organization to save money?
- Streamlining organization process by operating more efficiently?
- Management and organization, as an event or a fundraiser?
- Creating written process to smooth transitions or future events?
7. Be prepared for an interview with a "story" of what you did and how you have helped an organization run more efficiently, make more money, or save time. Remember that the work you have been important and makes a difference. Do not underestimate it, or yourself!
Volunteering is a great way to:
- Leave the house
- Community involvement
- Build your network
- Try new skills
- Show your talent
- Building a bridge to a new career.
Never underestimate the value of unpaid work. There is still work, he defined value in the business world, and that makes a difference!

I try to find on the Internet, where I can sit for Nestle Almond, Carmal and Krunch chocolate bars for my school.
I am the PTO President of my Children at the school. I want to sell Nestle chocolate bars as a fundraiser. So I'm wondering if someone could help me to get the web sit.
