The act of giving. It begins with a small wave, can be an individual or a small group, but it can build momentum and become a very large wave finally. Here is an example of how the act of giving can start small and grow into something much larger.

Recently, students, faculty and staff of the elementary school my son has engaged in a very cool event to raise funds. Already actively committed to serving the community through their program of community service projects, the school has chosen to support a local organization very Fit to a popular annual event called "Polar Plunge".

For those of you who do not know what a "dive Polar 'is, it involves the icy winter and some very strong individuals willing to take a blood-curdling mid-winter swimming. These events have become popular fundraisers throughout the continent.

This story begins with a fifth-grade teacher who introduced his class with a challenge: if they raised $ 100, she jumped into the cold ocean waters to benefit charity chosen school. The class responded quickly and raised the $ 100. Thus, the teacher decided to brave the plunge.

But the idea had gained ground. Another teacher has taken up the challenge of teaching first. She told the students that if they raise $ 200, it would also make the leap. Thus, the class has worked hard again and managed to collect an additional $ 100.

Now the momentum has been building. (Just like the waves in the ocean!) The spirit of fun and excitement and energy invested in the fund raising was really gaining in popularity. director of the school decided to raise the stakes and increased the amount to $ 500. And she decided to cross The not so!

But the "wave" does not stop there. When my son told me about their Polar Plunge challenge, I decided get involved too. In fact, I not only agreed to take the plunge, I was the cost of $ 500 for a dollar. Ultimately, a community has been "in the bath 'so to speak, fundraising and fun in the process.

And it all started with a teacher per class and a fifth group of children to community spirit.

Which just goes to show you, even the tiniest waves in the middle of the ocean can gather strength and momentum.

It's really the way Act back to the community on catches. Each of us can do us. No matter how small or insignificant our law may seem at the time, he has the power to capture and inspire others, so that together we can become a positive force, capable of making some mighty big changes to improve life and create a better world for us all.

In the five years since Mr. Rogers Windows Foundation was formed, it has contributed to many organizations: The American Red Cross, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, World Vision, The Make a Wish Foundation, and The Salvation Army, as well many others that tackle the causes of poverty and injustice throughout the world.

As founder and president of Mr. Rogers Windows, Gerry Rogers’ revolutionary Performance Satisfaction Guarantee, has earned the trust of thousands of clients by “doing the right thing” to ensure complete customer satisfaction.

Rogers also applies his commitment of “doing the right thing” where it matters most. He believes that being a corporate and individual citizen of the world, we all have a responsibility to help each other. No matter how small an action of giving may seem, the contribution is what matters. Being in the replacement windows business is important not because of the money Rogers’ business makes; it is important because of the money his Foundation gives away.

How do you get donations from businesses, community partners and individuals for non-profit events?

Types of donations needed: Event Settings – Tables, chairs, linens, cutlery, glasses, entertainment, MC, caterers, music, lighting, porta potty, alcohol, silent auction items, etc. This for a gala fundraiser for college scholarships necessary for our seniors and other educational support.

Depending on your time online for the event, usually ask but it works. Get a few people with the time and grab the yellow pages / business pages of your local telephone company. Ask to speak to the department, someone in their public relations or community relations. Tell people what you're doing what is necessary and by when. Then offer to come speak with them in person – make an appointment, not only in drops on it. Here is where your "team" should split the calling: 1 person calls caterer. 1 person calls major hotels (Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton, Hyatt, etc.) 1 person calls large Non-Profit (American Heart Association, Cancer Society, etc.) 1 person coordinates the visits and not a "follow up" series of calls to anyone who shows interest, the least something for the interview schedule. Second, it provides should be a person, together a simple package of information, including: Who benefits the program (the people will benefit scholarships) What items will be needed, if the donantion (needs is a draft program of the event the work is) Where will the event dates will be with (This gives them some idea of a Timeline for their employees at work). What is she really on board? Tell them as a sponsor, then their company information on either program, or in any Way they engage are included useful. It need not be a big deal either. I have used donated napkins event of a printer with the name of a great Hotels on her coverage which has for the press – yes, the hotel and our own. Since you do not beg for money, you should be more than enough sponsors willing to pitch in. Good luck.
